Hi,

I just received my BT Voyager 2110 today and the speed is quite... hem, slow ! With http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/, I got 243 kbps in download. Not quite the broadband I dreamt of. I get this speed both with Macintosh G5 wired with a Ethernet cable and a wireless Macbook.

Is that normal ?

cheers, Nicolas

Are you able to run a check at http://www.speedtester.bt.com? This will give you the IP Profile that BT are restricting you to. Also, what speed are you connecting (synching) with the exchange at?

The initial line check believes your line is capable of 2.5Mb maximum (due to distance from exchange / condition of line etc...).

Right now, your profile at our end, however, is set to just 500kbps. Have you ensured that all equipment plugged into the line is filtered with a microfilter.

This post might be useful to you : http://community.plus.net/comms/2007/07/02/broadband-speed-faults-how-to-diagnose/

I just made the test and here is the result :

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information. IP profile for your line is - 250 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 1472 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 225 kbps

I understand.

Yes, all filters are plugged but the speedtest seems to see an IP profile of 250 kbps and you tell me my profile is 500 kbps (is that the synch or the throughput ?).

thanks, Nicolas

Hi there,

If you maintain those sync speeds, you should see an improvement in profile and therefore throughput in the next day or so.

We currently do not have a 250Kbps profile at this end, the lowest we have is 500Kbps, whereas BT have you profiled at 250Kbps.
