large test files to download

I the last fiew days links have been posted here to some test files that can be downloaded to check speeds. I can't find them now dispite spending an hour looking. I think one set was on a BT site. The other ones were 10MB and 100MB Null and non Null

If you want large LEGAL files to download - try

http://fedora.redhat.com/Download/

Click on one of the top 3 links. These are bigger than 100MB but you can always stop the download if you find out the stable download speed.

Dunno if you want specific files - but I always use these since they are nice and big. you should be ok with the CD version - the DVD is over 2GB

Thanks these are OK but look like they are in the USA I should have said in my original question that I was looking for files on local servers.

Thanks again

Go to http://www.openoffice.org and try and download a file from there, make sure you choose one of the UK options, the files are ~ 100MB, so good enough to gauge speed on.

If you look on the local mirrors, there is one site in Kent. I usually use that one. I think there may be some others in the UK too.

ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/fedora.redhat.com/

ftp://ftp2.newnet.co.uk/pub/fedora/linux/core/

Just select Directory 5 (for Fedora Core 5) and the version you want - most probably x86 for 32 bit PC and x86_64 for AMD 64 bit CPU.
