from BB+ to premier

hey guys

im currently on BB+, getting locked at 128k within the first week of each month. having serious thoughts about switching to premier option 1, where my line will be 5.5meg as i have tested with BT.

What are your general oexperiences with permier option 1 with:

-gaming?
-browsing?
-torrenting?
-download speeds?

thanks,
bikepump

Can you give more details of your usage and when you need to use different types of traffic. Premier will also see slowed P2P at times of heavier usage (not just during peak time).

The only account that delivers top speeds at all times of the day on all protocols is PAYG. Whether that is economically an option for you depends on your total 8am to midnight usage.

cheers for the reply elvin.

ok well around 2-3hrs of bf2142 is played in peak times each day - (most nights - can be more/less)
tend to use 7-12 gig in peak times each month and do some donwloading on P2P (though mostly out of peak times)
and so far this month my browsing usage is 2.5gig.
it's a home network with 2 comps using bb most of the time

let me know if you'd like any more info Smiley

Hmmm... you look to be on the margin.

Premier 1 is £21.99, PAYG with 12GB 8am to midnight usage is £22.49.

Premier 1 would give you a better experience than you are getting now, but not the ultimate.

If you go to https://portal.plus.net/support/broadband/network/traffic_management.shtml and select the different products from the bottom you can compare what each product delivers with your current product.

Don't forget that the upcoming product refresh is likely to bring a range of new tarriff options and will probably increase allowances for customers.

Assuming your usage will remain broadly static it may be that PAYG becomes more of an option in a couple of months time.

cheers for the reply lestones.

I reckon i'll switch to premier and if the product refresh happens i may eventually switch to that.

cheers, bikepump

If you are moving between products with different monthly costs, there may be a one-off charge for the difference in these amounts. This will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and will be based on the cost of your new product and the number of days until your next billing date. Please ensure that you have valid credit or debit card details on your account so that we can take this payment.

does this mean there will be extra fees from moving from £14.99 a month to £21.99 (£21.50 with my referrals)Huh

Yes they will charge you the difference between 14.99 and 21.99 divided by 30 (or 31 - not sure which) times the number of days to the end of your current billing period.

It doesn't really make any difference. If you upgrade today you will be paying the daily rate for Premier from today. It depends how soon you think you need to upgrade.

(It's the end of your billing month - not the calendar month).

It's one month from your last payment date. https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php?&strAction=PERIOD will also show you the start and end for your current month.

Yep, billing date is the 1st of the month. So if you put the upgrade request in on the 31st there wouldn't be any pro-rata charges to upgrade.

excellent! cheers dave Cheesy

edit (again Tongue ) when i upgrade next saturday, should i expect to see line instability whilst they boot the bb speed from 2meg currently to 5.5meg as i have tested with BT's website?

also should i reboot the router once a day when i've upgraded?
