I have browsed through a lot of postings and many people seem to have knowledge that I don`t have. I can`t be the only one who needs things explained very simply

eg:

what is a catch all and why should it be off at the moment?

why have an alias? eg I switched catch all off yesterday and an alias called `postmaster` was set up. This was the only one I had. What did it do?

I was sent an e mail today and it has not arrived. Is the catch all stopping it?

and so on please

If your username is 'blahblah' then your default mailbox is blahblah@blahblah.plus.com.

If this is your only mailbox -
If someone sends you a mail to fred@blahblah.plus.com
Then if catchall is ON the default will pick it up.
If catchall is OFF, it will be rejected.

If you want to receive emails to 'fred' then you need to either set up an additional mailbox, or make 'fred' an alias of the default one.

Hope that helps.

What are the benefits of an alias over a dedicated mailb0ox or visa-versa?

If you have a dedicated mailbox you access it individually. With an alias you can gather a number of addresses into one single access.
