easynews

For a moment I thought Easynews was running over a comsat link, but then I realised it was just plusnets "Quality" of Service doing its quality work.

Hi,

Saturday afternoons are usually the busiest afternoon of the week. You can see how busy the network is here:

http://www.plus.net/support/network_performance/broadband_bandwidth_usage.shtml

When the network is busy then performance of non-interactive traffic like Usenet like decrease. At 4pm the Premier and Plus peak time starts so I'd expect a small increase in performance then until about 6pm when the rate limits kick in. All being well with it being a Saturday the speeds will then increase around 9pm as Saturday nights are usually the quietest of the week. You may see a dip at midnight as everyone starts ther scheduled downloads but it'll speed up again shortly after.
