Is it just me,

or has the speed of e-mail retrieval suddenly increased :shock:

hope this is a sign of things to come

just hope the mail servers don't go belly up any time soon

Not just you seeing this. Others have reported very slow email uploading and downloading recently.

It may be as a result of being on a congested BT Central and a disconnect / reconnect may have put you on a different and less congested pipe and thus data throughput speeds are better.

There have been suspicions raised on the PUG forums and internally by PUG that POP3/SMTP is being shaped in some way but it is not conclusive yet.

I'm suspicious too. My email performance has felt throttled for at least a week now. That is when it's working :shock:

I have to say, it does smack of traffic management.

it seems that we just can't win.

what we gain in one area we loose in another due to bandwidth constraints.

grrr.

That may explain why a 3mb email took 6 minutes to download to my email server.
