downgrade/username

What happened to the downgrade option that used to be in account details or wherever?
I want to downgrade to dialup to keep my username active but the only option seems to be to cancel my b/band as I am changing to cable. Can't seem to get a definative answer to this.

Hi,

You can't automatically downgrade an account from broadband to dial-up via the portal, this would need to be done via a ticket. If you raise a ticket via the help assistant through the cancellation route and note you want to downgrade then we can arrange it.

I already had raised a ticket & got a quick response.
when I answered I asked if they would confirm I would be able to retain my username, email & small website if downgrading to dialup but haven't had a response.
I do not require a mac as I am changing to cable & I understand that means canceling my service which puts in doubt my username being retained
