are Ellacoya rules tested, or is it configure and hope?

The amount of problems this Ellacoya seems to be causing to end users, its configuration either isn't being tested, or it doesn't actually do what it says on the tin?

how many fault reports are plusnet now dealing with due to this being in the network?

how much more difficult is it to trace a network fault due to the unknown effect of this system?

Working extensively with other traffic shaping products, its generally known to be very easy to make applications run significantly worse if you don't plan things out correctly, allowing for user populations, how they use the apps, sessions and so on.

You can throw config changes at a problem forever but just make other things worse in the process.

Of course I have no Ellacoya experience so they may be magically different, but somehow I doubt it.

How can you possibly expect an ISP which cannot keep its e-mail servers up, has constant DNS problems, deletes 700GB of customer e-mail and cannot be bothered (financially) to do everything possible to get it back...... properly to configure the Ellacoyas?

Long before the new 'patch' was applied it was obvious that PlusNet's intention was to spread the misery to all torrent users, rather than simply those running unencrypted. They don't want customers who use more than a few GB every month.

At the moment, management are not concerned with the day to day running of the business, merely with presenting a favourable a picture as possible to a potential buyer.... and what's in such a deal for them!
