Your peak-time usage for this billing month just exceeded 8G

Just had an email from PN telling me that "Your peak-time usage for this billing month just exceeded 8GB".

and quoting:

>Although this is not more than your allowance, we wanted to make you aware
of light restrictions to your connection speeds that come into force should
you reach 10GB. These restrictions help you to stay within your allowance,
and ensure that all customers receive the best possible quality of
service.<

I thought this only came into effect once my account had been upgraded to MAXDSL - i'm stll on my 2mb.

Can anyone clarify please?

Hi there,

Thats the standard warning email for all Premier Option 1 accounts.

Max has no bearing on it.

Oh right - thanks for the reply.....

I thought that PN brought in the 10gb limit to offset the fact that we were getting MAXDSL ... in other words.... "Here's MAXADSL but make sure your you don't exceed 10gb in peak time" <----- fair enough if i actually have up to 8mb coz the 8mb is in effect a sweetener.... but not all that fair if you don't....

Slightly off on a tangent.......but... if i only used 2gb peak time for 6 months consecutively then 1 particular month happen to go over the 10gb limit do i get a slapped botty ?

@sneaky
The MaxDSL and the Option 1 up to 8Mb are two separate issues.
You were moved automatically on to the Option 1 package at your last billing date, regardless of whether you got/get/want MaxDSL.

And you could use nil fbandwidth on an infinite number of months, but if you go over 10GB in the next one, you get stuffed. There is no carryover.

It has come to our attention that your peak-time usage for this billing
month has reached 8GB, which greatly exceeds the 4.5GB allowance associated
with your product type.

We operate a Sustainable Usage Policy that limits excessive peak-time usage
that affects the quality of service for other customers -
http://portal.plus.net/support/broadband/network/sustainable_usage_guide.shtml

On your product type, peak-time usage that exceeds 10GB will result in the
following restrictions for the remainder of your billing month:

* Usenet, peer-to-peer and external FTP services will be blocked.
* All other Internet activities will be available at speeds up to 128Kbps.

We have sent you this email to give you an opportunity to avoid these
restrictions. Remember that your usage outside of peak-times doesn't count
towards your allowance.

Why do we provide a peak-time usage allowance?
----------------------

Broadband is a contended service. This means excessively high usage by
individuals will have a negative impact on the service of other customers.

What happens next?
------------------

Please reduce your peak-time usage until the end of your billing month.

You can monitor your monthly usage on the View My Usage tool in the Member
Centre - http://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind Regards,
PlusNet Customer Support

Lol. That clearly needs sorted.

Cheers for pointing that one out.

I'll raise this through PUG and hopefully it can be fixed soon and prevent further confusion.

No worries, i wouldn't be so far over the limit but i had problems with the VMBU showing more data than it should, so as compensation my billing date was put back until June 2nd. So i've had a really long month (Mid April - June)

PN must come up with a different method for compensation other than putting the billing date back. They wanted to do this to me but as I am on BB PAYG I pointed out to PN that this was not a sensible option as I probably would have had to buy extra bandwidth for the extra days.

Clearly states that Premier option 1 - which I believe was my previous account classification - (IN FACT Account details still say I have this!)

Product Warning email sent Restrictions applied
Premier
Option 1 24GB 30GB

Now allegedley my account only has 15GB allowance - and Plusnet will apply restrictions at 10GB with further ones applied at 12.5GB and 15GB...

WTF!!!!!! - So Im paying the same for 62.5% (Less than 2/3) of what I had previously..

PLEASE EXPLAIN plusnet and it better be good..

That page is very wrong. It has clearly been overlooked and is at total odds with what actually exists and that which has been previously applied and communicated.

I have raised this through the UserGroup and hopefully it will be rectified very quickly.
