Why has my stable rate dropped?

I've just noticed that my stable rate has dropped to 2500 from the 7000 it has always been at. Why has it dropped?

My modem always syncs at 7616/448 and my speeds have been around the 6Mb mark. So why is it that today I'm seeing speeds of a little over 2Mb?

I know for a fact that nothing has changed at my end and that my line can actually deliver a faster speed, it's been doing so up until today.

Oh yeah, I'm on PAYG 2GB.

Why has my stable rate dropped?

Hi,

According to the BT speed reports the sync rate dropped to 2848kbps around 26/02/2007 02:44:25 (give or take an hour), our RADIUS logs confirm there was a connection drop around 01:51 26/Feb/2007. So I suspect when it disconnected it resync'd at that lower rate before going back up again.

It's the only decrease this month so the blip logic may take effect here, you may need to reboot though for the profile to update.

Why has my stable rate dropped?

Thanks Dave. I unplugged the modem and allowed it to re-sync and am now back at a stable rate of 7000. However, my downloads are still only coming in at 2MB and the latency has skyrocketed too!

Why has my stable rate dropped?

I get these rogue resynchs 1-2 times a month. Each time it takes 3 or so days to reset at the BT end.

Max speed I get is 2500 have been down to 512.

Reboot router once a day, Do a BT speedtest - once their IP profile gets back to the normal level, it will feed through to PN at either 8am or 8pm that day.

Its a reet pain. Sad

Why has my stable rate dropped?

Ive just noticed yesterday that mines dropped down from 8000 to 7000 too and my router now states a synch speed of 7616

Ive had a stable rate of 8000 since i was upgraded to max a long time ago with my router synching at 8128 kbps down and 448 up and this hasnt changed once

ive rebooted everything several times since i noticed with no effect so why the sudden drop ?

@ holdtight
Was your connection interleaved before? Is it now?

Why has my stable rate dropped?

7616kbps is normal maximum sync rate for an interleaved line, 8128kbps for a non-interleaved line, if the line's been unstable then BT may have switched interleaving on automatically.

Why has my stable rate dropped?

@ Ian
As far as i know interleaving has never been on but thats a good point and worth looking into cheers

@ Dave
I have always synched at 8128 and my connection has always been rock solid with high speeds and not one single drop out since being maxed, my line has never been unstable in fact quite the opposite

This being the case why would interleaving be turned on now as my line is still and has always been extremely stable and could it be turned off

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7616 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 16.0 db
Noise Margin 5.4 db 24.0 db

thanks

Bill.
