What causes internet lockup

You know - when the router thinks it is connected - link light green, little tick marks on config page etc - but no data will go through. Only a restart fixes it.

Why is the system not capable of detecting this state, and re-training as necessary?

Happens to me, and most bb connected friends (regardless of ISP). Frequency is increasing.

Is this a problem at router end, or exchange end?

Cheers.

What causes internet lockup

Anything that you all have in common, e.g. same router model or all on the same exchange?

How often does it happen? Also, do you also use P2P?

I can't give you a definative answer but I can think of a few possibilities. The most common would be something like P2P locking the router tables up, other things could be the router thinking it's being DDoS'd and blocking all traffic or maybe just that the router needs a regular reboot.

What causes internet lockup

Nothing in common

Two different routers, three different exchanges, and two different ISP's

Just periodically (every night for one of us) the router needs to restart before data will flow again.
