Video Help

From plus.net forums
___________________________________

As part of improving the help we offer on our site, we will be introducing video guides for some of the common things you might do as a PlusNet customer. These won't replace the standard help pages but be offered as an additional alternative.

Before we launch them officially onto the Help Pages later in the month, we would like to offer a sneak preview of some of the guides below. If you have any feedback, or ideas for future guides, please reply to this thread.

Video Help

Just a couple of points so far.

1. I have only checked the "Checking your email with Outlook" and "Setting up Mailboxes" but both refer to 'Plus' in all the settings.
Now you and I know this needs to be changed to Force9 or F9 but will the users?
So will we have a "Force 9" version of the files?

2. In the Outlook video it misses the [Test Settings] button out. This should be used as it checks the settings are correct and suggests errors if not and it also sends a test email to the account so the user can download it to try mail receiving.

Just a suggestion. Otherwise "Not bad" so far. I will check the others when time permits.

Regards, Colin.

Video Help

Hi, i am gathering that there will be video help for all the visp's - it would make sense to offer the help to everyone.

I think the guides are not bad at all! - makes it a lot easier for users which don’t have a lot of experience

Video Help

OK I'm back after trying to strech my ADSL MAXed connection by downloading a really big file, 3.12 Gig Windows Vista Beta 2.

It downloaded in 1hr 55min at 480K/Sec, not bad for an old 512K connection.

Anyway back to the videos.
I've checked a few more and can only add this to the above.

It would be nice if you added a [Close Window] button to the last box as there are no instructions as to what to do next and knowing users they will pause at that point and wonder what to do Smiley.
In the "Using FTP with Internet Explorer" would it not be better to say "You will notice this time we have replaced the 'http' with 'ftp' ", rather than for.

I'm not that good at grammer but if you used 'for' then shouldn't the other items be reversed as in "replaced 'ftp' for 'http' (still dosen't look right Smiley ).

I expect there are others who will firmly put me in my place now
