Customer support posted to my ticket on 13th December:

BT advise us that they need to move your line to a different port on the ADSL broadband equipment at the local exchange. Ordinarily this work would be completed by an engineer within a couple of hours however as there are no spare ports to do this immediately BT have instigated a cease and reprovide process to complete the work. There is a provide order going through that corresponds to the cease order you have mentioned so the service will definitely not be cut off.

Despite pointing out to them that the dates on the orders shown on my BT order tracking meant I was being cut off on December 22nd and not being reconnected until 28th December, they did nothing and guess what?

I have been cut off and will have no broadband over the Xmas Period.

Have they given you the free dialup number to use while your BB is out?

Yes, I have free dialup. I asked them to enable it as soon as I found out the dates meant I was going to be disconnected.

Wow, BT work on Xmas Eve.

My ADSL came back overnight so I had only just over one day without.

Hi

Usually when BT do a cease and reprovide for faults purposes the downtime is pretty short.

Glad to hear you have the broadband service back now.
