Update on BT Central Pipe Balancing Issues

Duplicated from service status:

Further to the announcement made on Monday having met with BT today we can confirm that the initial fix for resolution of recent throughput issues has not been a total success, and as a consequence we are in the progress of initiating an upgrade of all of our 155Mb pipes to 622Mb equivalents.

The upgrade progress will take approximately 6 to 12 weeks to be completed, we will of course post more definitive timings once they have been confirmed. Both our own and BT engineers have worked hard to manage the problem and will continue to work hard to deliver the upgrade. During the upgrade every effort will continue to be made to maximise the performance of the current DSL platform.

We once again apologise for the inconvenience caused by the protracted nature of this issue and would like to thank customers for their continued custom and support.

Will the replacement pipes stll be terminated on the Redbacks (can they be?) or will the move to (new or existing?) Juniper's

Update on BT Central Pipe Balancing Issues

The Redbacks don't support 622Mbs links so Plusnet will have to purchase an additional 3 Junipers (they have 10 155Mbs pipes and each Juniper supports 4 155Mbs pipes), presumably at their cost, in order to get around the load balancing issues that BT cannot manage.

I just hope BT can either speed up the supply of the 622 pipes (unlikely as OFCOM restrict this timeframe to 3 months) or compensate Plusnet for having to do this.
