The same spam recived repeatedly for months, why cannot it b

There are some spams which I have been receiving many copies of each day for months. I always forward them to spam @dspamchesker, but they continue to come. Subjects like 'buy now viagra 50mg x 10 pills $6.00 per pill' surely must be identifiable. Also 'Adobe Creative Suite...' received over and over again with an imbedded picture of an Adobe softwarebox in the email.
Currently spam received, i.e. not identified by the spam checker, outnumbers genuine emails by probably 6 to one. this is much too high. Can I look forward to any improvement in the near future?

Hi there,

We are continuing to work on the spam filtering, improving it following your feedback. So yes, you can expect improvements to this over the next few weeks.

Chris posted a blog post yesterday, explaining how you can reduce the amount of spam you receive by making a few small changes to the way your mail is handled, which may also be of use.

is it necessary to keep forwarding spam

It is time consuming to keep on forwarding the same spams. Does it acheive anything once it has been forwarded a few times?

The same spam recived repeatedly for months, why cannot it b

Hi there,

I answer to your question 'does it ....?'

The honest answer is 'I don't know' but all I can say is that is PlusNet are proactive and add a SPAM reporting button and you, the user, also report your SPAM to someone like SpamCop it will eventually reduce if not disappear.

I am still on Hotmail (have been since, I think, 1994. I used to get 10-20 SPAM emails a day. I started using SpamCop in 2002 and now Hotmail is virtually clean (about one SPAM every week).

I've been reporting ALL the SPAM email that I get through PlusNet and my SPAMs have reduced, not a lot, but noticeably in the past 3 weeks I've been doing it.

As I said, if PlusNet are Proactive and assist us (as it was their ISP that was broken in to by crooks - as was BT's main site) then the nuisance will reduce.

But it is up to you the user to also be proactive a report what SPAMs you get. If you just delete them, they are sure to come back.

Sorry to be pessimistic but that seems to be the way of the world.

Cheers,
John

Are these spams coming in with the same subject line? Or are they slightly different? If it's the same then the easy thing to do is set up a mail rule in your email client to automatically delete them. If it's slightly different then that may just be enough for training not to be effective.

Subject lines are often the same, but sender is always different. I remove many spams with message rules just by picking up strings like '$' 'Adobe' 'pills' 'penis' etc in the subject line, so most of the spams arrive in one folder which I could quickly delete, however at the moment I go through the folder every day and forward the emails to spam@dspamchecker and this seems to be an ever increasing job, as I am seeing no obvious drop in the spam received

Do you have your mail which is tagged as spam delivered to the spam folder? If you don't I'd recommend this, you can then scan the mailbox via webmail, and don't need to download it.

We'll also be adding 'spam' and 'not spam' buttons to webmail shortly, which will make forwarding spam to us much easier.
