Terrible Speed!

I've had connection problems recently but have managed to get it working ok again now (had to cart everything to connect to just the master BT socket) :x
Last night I had speeds of virtually 2mb.
Today it's been awful with speeds of around 100!! (Less than twice 56k dial up!!)
What's going on or is it my connection playing up again?

Terrible Speed!

Last night I could not log onto usenet properly. When it finally mamanfged the download speed for the headers only was so slow 1 header a minute downloaded. Web was fine however. gaming was impossible last night. |latencies in Half life 2 went from low to high in the matter of minutes. I am sure something fundamental is up.

Terrible Speed!

I can vouch for that.

Tried Gnews at 1:30am to update headers, I think I saw 3k max. This after peak and with only approx 20 GB downloaded this pay period.

Terrible Speed!

Just been talking to Tech Support. Was advised to use BT Speed tester and send reports to them.
I did ask about usage and from reading between the lines on what he said if you use above 10gb a month you'll be monitored and probably put on a static IP address. You may also have your speed reduced.
They won't stop your downloads but it will be a lot slower!!
If this is correct then I'll seriously have to consider changing ISPs.
