Terrible Pings - What is happening

I haven't seen any comment from PlusNet as to what is happening to the pings tonight and last night.
These are typical results

Terrible Pings - What is happening

jepp

looks like SAME problems as last month - pings way up, d/load speeds way down...

PN speed checker showed WAY less than 1Mb on a 2Mb link, but BT speedtest shows near normal speeds of about 1600Kb....

traffic throttling anyoneHuh?

and with this months usage being 1.71Gb i don't expect to have such poor speeds

paco2k5,

Not at all. If this thread is with regards to a new issue such as protocol or service then it would be unwise to lock the thread.
Some threads are locked due to them serving little or no purpose or for being a repeat of what is already being discussed on the boards.

Terrible Pings - What is happening

Yea, I noticed horrific pings on Monday night...

Playing Call of Duty 2 and had pings of 100-150 (I normally get 50-60).

Don't know if it was a one-off as I haven't been back on yet.

Terrible Pings - What is happening

Hi there,
We published a service status earlier today relating to a config error on the network which caused issues for gaming. This should be resolved and current indications are that this is solved but if you see problems tonight please let us know.

Terrible Pings - What is happening

Hi,

I've been getting problems like this for this past week. The internet performs very well early in the day and afternoon, and then from between 4 and 5pm onwards, it is terrible.

I have problems opening webpages, and terrible pings to any online game.

When it comes round to midnight/ early morning, the problems that I experience in the evening are gone and all is well again.

From what I have read about the "peak-time usage management", it seems like it may have something to do with this, as the times fit perfectly within "peak time".

However I don't believe we are on any sort of management, and even if we were, this seems rather rediculously restrictive. It is almost impossible to use the internet during this period.

How much bandwidth must be used before any kind of restriction is put in place, as "my usage" shows we have used approximately 14 or 15 Gb this month so far.

Yesterday evening I was using both PlusNet's and ADSLguide's speed tests, and was consistenly getting very low speeds of between 200 and 400 kbps, although tonight is slightly better at between 1000 and 1100 kbps.

Seeing this thread, I thought I would try a Trace to plus.net to see what I would get, and I don't think this is normal:

Indeed. I have to admit they are one of the same. Lets see how things pan out.
