Streaming very poor ...

Streaming from www.ifilm.com and www.youtube.com is now very poor, can not go for more than 90s without it grinding to a halt and start rebuffering.

These sites normally work well ... Gold traffic being dropped?

I am on PAYG, a BBMax sppedtest shows 1.8Mb.

Hi godsell4

I just tried those sites, and whilst I found the first to be slow in general, I found Youtube to be fine IE upto 4mbps whilst streaming a couple of vids I chose to watch.

So I guess it could be either the gateway you are on, your exchange, or your line, or the said servers were just busy when you tried.

Have you tried a hard reboot of all hardware?

*EDIT* The first link also appears to stream ok @ around 2 - 4mbps.

During both today and yesterday there's been a lot of gold traffic dropped during the afternoon. When godsell4 posted the problem, gold still seemed to be dropping, but after 6pm (when seventhstar posted and presumable tried) gold seemed to be unaffected.

This might be why the problem was no longer evident.

Godsell4 - are you still having problems?

With making no changes to me setup, I am currently able to watch some trailers off ifilm.com.

@ kjaerligkatt

Yer it looks like some gold was dropping between 12:00 and 17:00 Hours or so.
That graph is hard to veiw properly though isn't it? So I'm not sure if I am reading correctly or not.

And yes as you said, I tested after 18:00 Hours.

I thought PN had never had to drop any gold before! (Don't quote me though as I may be totaly wrong).

I guess a lot of people will have been online this weekend, what with the weather and all!

With the problems being reported with P2P in recent days, and evidence that there has been a lot of packet dropping, I've been monitoring the packets dropped reports since last Sunday.

During that time period, gold packets have been being dropped during periods on every day. I believe this is evidence of the PN network hitting capacity during those periods.

I'm unfamiliar about ifilm but I knew that youTube were experiencing high hits and were running into network problems recently; seems to have been resolved fairly quickly and with out much fuss...
