If you're still synced at 4MB, go and fight with http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ and try to get a report from there.

It's the first thing plus support will tell you to do ;p

Paste everything from there into here or a ticket - whichever you feel appropriate and peeps can look into it Smiley

Used speedtester.bt.com results as follows:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 1984 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 115 kbps

It said my configured speed was 135K.... what does this mean?

There's your problem, same as I'm suffering with.

IP Profile is at 135kbps. That means you had a couple of bad syncs (or one sync that went on for a long time) which made BT drop your rate down to 135kbps.

It's stuck there for 3-5 days, nothing you can do about it Sad

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news though.

Really?

Will it fix itself? What would cause that?

Probably solar flares or something equally inexplicible as was the case with me. It *should* fix itself but I've a feeling mine isn't so simple... still stuck at 250kbps after 5 days have passed Sad

As stesherlock says it was probably random external noise- and there's not a lot you can do to prevent that.

Worth checking out this guide to make sure you're optimising your internal wiring and this may help prevent re-occurance of the problem. This FAQ is also worth a read.

Sadly the broadband will take 3-5 days to regain full speed after a reduced IP Profile and this is outside of PlusNet's control.
