Speed Issues - a theory?

OK so I've joined the merry band of people with crap speeds at "peak times".

So did this problem start with the advent of the broadband firewall being introduced? Clearly it does block traffic - my router firewall logs are a fair bit quieter now. BUT has this caused an addition bottleneck? e.g.

Firewall itself so loaded up that speed affected?

Firewall blocking apps/or even trojans such that a link becomes saturated and affects performance elsewhere?

Just a theory - need to run some checks I guess - e.g turn the thing off and see if my connection is improved?

cheers

Speed Issues - a theory?

It's not related to the firewall.

Speed Issues - a theory?

The speeds issues being reported now appear to be across BB+ as a whole, hence why I've been recommending that people change to Broadband PAYG, hence paying for what they get.

Not everyone on BB+ have the firewall turned on.

That's great but I'm going to need you to go ahead and fix it for the BB+ users who don't want to switch to PAYG.

Okay? Okay.

Funny how they know what isn't causing it, but don't know what is.
Up until a week ago, I never had any problems with Plusnet. I'm on BB+ and rarely go over 5GB per month peak and off peak combined.
But now my speeds are so bad in the evenings I can't use the service for what it's intended.
I now feel guilty for recommending Plusnet to friends and family. I'm sure it won't be long til they linch me.

Speed Issues - a theory?

We know what's causing it.

It will be detailed in the document which Douglas has referenced to.

So if you know what's causing the speed issues, when are you going to fix it?
Sorry for being a bit dense but who is Douglas and what is the document he has referenced?

Cheers

Speed Issues - a theory?

I have written a document that discusses product design, traffic management and future plans. Douglas is a member of the usergroup.

Final changes are being made and it should be posted in the near future. I'm off all next week, so not sure if it'll go out then or not.

..and what does that actually mean? Are y'all just talking about a solution or are we going to get a actual fix?

Speed Issues - a theory?

Bit of both. It describes the current issue as well as detailing future plans and products to counteract the current slow downs being seen.

..and this fix will be implemented when?
