So whats the problem this morning ??

I'm using 2mbit Premier, speeds this morning are appalling. Since I joined the speeds have been up and down but the last few weeks seemed to have been more stable until this morning. Strangely the IP reported by the BT test is not my ip address

Adslguide speedtest:

Downstream 170 Kbps (21.3 KB/sec) 183 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 254 Kbps (31.8 KB/sec) 274 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Downstream 208 Kbps (26.0 KB/sec) 224 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 255 Kbps (31.9 KB/sec) 275 Kbps (inc. overheads)

------------------------------------------------------------------

PlusNet speedtest:

24-07-2005 10:26:34 225
24-07-2005 10:26:09 159.7

-------------------------------------------------------------------

BT speedtest

222 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.

Your IP address is 217.32.*.*, your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and is running on Windows XP.

Don't know anything about your speed problems, since (touch wood) I haven't had any problems like that for 3 or 4 months

However, the BT Speedtest IP address I can help with - when you connect to that, you're connecting to the BT network, not Plusnet's, so you get a BT IP address

I know its a generic answer but have you tried a reboot of all your equiptment
modem / router as this has been known to cure a lot of ills

also a quick check of your exchange status to see if there is any
ongoing maintainence work or issues Here

No problems to report here, adslguide speed test -

Downstream 1913 Kbps (239.1 KB/sec) 2066 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 243 Kbps (30.4 KB/sec) 262 Kbps (inc. overheads)

BT speed test -

1889 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.

PlusNET speed test -

24-07-2005 10:57:16 1960
24-07-2005 10:55:37 1939.4
24-07-2005 09:45:44 1937

lalpool, the BT speed test correctly identified my IP address

Edit: Just read the instructions on the BT test site, was still logged in to PlusNET when I did the test (hence identifying my IP correctly)

Thanks for replies. I rebooted but as you can see below it didn't help. Speedtests are now getting even worse. My exchange details say VP capacity is RED, port capacity is AMBER. I have never had speeds this low before, it's like being back on 56k dialup.

AG
Downstream 57 Kbps (7.1 KB/sec) 61 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 255 Kbps (31.9 KB/sec) 275 Kbps (inc. overheads)

PN

BT

I'm having the same problems here - my exchange is listed as VP capacity red, port status green

adslguide.org.uk speed test results:

Downstream 302 Kbps (37.8 KB/sec) 326 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 229 Kbps (28.6 KB/sec) 247 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Plus.net speed test results (all tests in the last 10 mins) were 369.3 and 437.5

Try some BT speedtests, see what they produce.
