Had a ding dong like this a month or so thought it had been sorted (sorry Mand) but P2P useless and browsing is so slow but it seems to pick up aroun 10ish.

Mine is very slow as well. 172ms average ping times on 3 different gateways i have connected to tonight.

Lack of capacity again or just lack of good management by Plusnet.

So Slow AGAIN

Same here, trying an ftp at 6pm last night I was getting 5k.

Now at 5am, I am still only getting 44k when I should be getting 104k (what each user is allocated, I asked the owner).

£21.99 is looking more and more expensive for this pretty poor service.

Getting speeds of about 670kbps at the moment. Something is definitely 'up' with the PlusNet server(s). Nothing on the 'Service Status' page yet...hopefully it's just a temporary blip.

So Slow AGAIN

Is this localised to PTN AG2, i have over 130ms first hop ping times for this gateway, cannot seem to connect to any other.

No it's not...see the link in thread above for details.

pte-ag1, pte-ag2 and ptn-ag2, are all affected

Ridiculously slow tonight. Many pages are simply refusing to load.

So Slow AGAIN

I'm on pte-ag1 and things seem pretty reasonable here...

So Slow AGAIN

Fine here on pte-ag1 too.

Webwise: The ping time from the gateway is irrelevant; as long as it passes your ping requests on to the next server in the route it doesn't matter how long it takes to respond to its own requests.

Seems to me that you're getting 37ms pings to the target destination which is good.

Pacem:

Ordinarily, the first gateway node from PlusNet would have a quicker response time. Performing a trace route now gives:

Tracing route to portal.plus.net [212.159.8.137]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 * * * Request timed out.
2 27 ms 26 ms 27 ms lo0-plusnet.ptn-ag1.plus.net [195.166.128.123]
3 27 ms 26 ms 26 ms ge0-0-0-103.ptn-gw2.plus.net [84.92.3.18]
4 32 ms 26 ms 26 ms ge1-0-0-23.ptn-gw1.plus.net [212.159.4.17]
5 26 ms 28 ms 26 ms gi0-2-32.ptc-gw1.plus.net [195.166.129.10]
6 34 ms 33 ms 40 ms se3-0.pih-gw1.plus.net [195.166.129.250]
7 47 ms 48 ms 36 ms vlan8.pih-gw4.plus.net [212.159.0.30]
8 34 ms 34 ms 36 ms pih-al4.plus.net [212.159.1.36]
9 37 ms 37 ms 35 ms portal.plus.net [212.159.8.137]

Comparing the average times of 26.7ms with 138.0ms, ptn-ag1 is now responding in less than one fifth of the time - clearly ptn-ag1 was suffering from a big delay earlier on.

Secondly, and more importantly, I was suffering from a big reduction in speed and my trace route indicated which of PlusNet servers I happened to be connected to. There was some discussion as to which servers were experiencing a lag...

So Slow AGAIN

anyone any idea whats going on?? My speeds are shocking today and yesturday. On Speedtest.net I have pings of over 400ms!!!!! I usually get downloads of approx 4-4.5Mbps, but today and yesterday struggle to get 1mbps. I am normally a very patient man, but Plus are really testing me, and asking for a MAC is becoming ever closer. These problems seem to occur with frightening regularity.
