Slow upstream speeds

Just done a speed test and received the following data back:

Downstream 904 Kbps (113.0 KB/sec) 976 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 32 Kbps (4.0 KB/sec) 34 Kbps (inc. overheads).

I am happy with my downstream speeds but my upstream speed seems to consistently come way below average. Apart from one occassion when I managed to obtain to upstream of 190Kbps on all other occassions (about six on total) figure has come in less than 100kbps.

Can anyone suggest what may be the problem.

Thanks
Simon

Slow upstream speeds

As this is a 1Mb connection, it should not be suseptable to rate adaption, however, BT are not the best of peopel to comply to there own products.

Are you able to check exactly what speed your hardware is syncronised at?

Secondly, do you get different results when reconnecting (2 or 3 times)?

How do I do that?

Hi Simon,

What make and model of ADSL hardware are you using? USB and PCI devices will often have an icon in system tray next to the clock which will tell you. Routers will normally tell you in the configuration pages.
