SSH trottled?

Hi all,

Just come into the main office and started to SSH back to my home office and the speed is v slow. Since I Remote Desktop to my home office PC, the refresh rate is terrible.

It's usually ok.

Anyone else having issues with SSH?

Cheers

SSH trottled?

this looks as though it could be related to what I've been seeing - all IRC traffic has been (so it seems) moved to bronze traffic which means it ain't important even tho it relies on real time traffic - I suspect the same has happened with SSH although when I tried it a short while ago it seemed fine (ish)

SSH trottled?

Occured in the last day or so?
Could it be related to the recent Ellacoya 'upgrade'?

SSH trottled?

Fine on monday....

Wasn't in main office Tuesday...

Dire on Wednesday.

I can SSH to my colleagues (different ISP) server ok from the main office, so it isn't the main office infrastructure.

Something's definately changed.

SSH trottled?

Well this was carried out Tuesday morning, so would seem most likely.

Also I have seen posts about slow IRC speeds on that thread.

SSH trottled?

Well, I've run a number of speed tests and I don't see a problem.

All tests use the PN speed test.

Direct I get 1146 kb/s

Through a ssh socks proxy to a server v.close to PN I get 1063kb/s

Through a ssh socks proxy to a server in California I get 475 kb/s

This is quite acceptable considering there will be extra delay due to the TCP protocol requiring trafic control responses which are delayed by the distance.

..or maybe I'm not noticing a slowdown 'cos I have such a slow connection anyway.
