SPAM e-mail addresses

We're getting SPAM sent to a valid e-mail address which none of our PCs has ever been configured to access, is not on any website and has never been given or used as a reply/sent address. It was created about the same time as I started using plusnet - although only I knew it existed. In some cases the same e-mail is copied to other e-mail addresses which are in the public domain. Strangely we still have some e-mail addresses which don't get any SPAM!

Thats because the spammers haven't "guessed" these e-mail addresses yet Cheesy

SPAM e-mail addresses

Spammers have all sorts of tricks- using malware to "harvest" addresses from compromised computers, send spiders around the internet searching for e-mail addresses on websites and forums, and literally guessing addresses at known domains.

Several researchers have set up fairly random e-mail addresses with popular services and never given the addresses to ANYONE and still the spam has come.

Sadly, until the way mail is sent across the internet is changed (relays closed off to IP's outside the ISP/corporate range; mandantory use of Sender Policy Framework), spam will remain a fact of life.
