Running slowly???

Hi, i've been noticing recently my webs been running pretty slow and i can't work out why.

I used the "F9 speed test tool" on the website and i've got these results back
30-12-2005 14:00:00 530.3
07-08-2005 23:06:00 941.9
07-08-2005 23:05:29 116.8
06-08-2005 23:45:36 165.4

all these tests have been with nothing running on my connection except my browser. So why is it when i've bought the Premier 2MB force 9 package i'm only getting, at best, well under half the speed i'm paying for.

530.3 out of 2048 Kb/s is stupidly low. Why is this?

have you checked http://usertools.force9.net/exchanges/ to check if there are any problems with your exchange?

Running slowly???

Hi,

I'd also suggest running the BT Speedtest, details are at

http://usertools.force9.net/tutorials/id/27

Try it at a few different times of the day and night and if it's showing the same sort of speeds and the exchange checker doesn't show any known problems raise a ticket via Contact Us and we'll run some remote testing to see if we can identify the cause.

Running slowly???

hey, thanks for the speedy responce!

well i ran the speedcheck and i got...

"

The speed test has completed on test server speedtester1.nat.bt.com for user 01737xxxxxx and you have downloaded a 1.7Mb file at a speed of

379 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.

Your IP address is 84.92.xxx.xxx, your browser is reported as being Mozilla 5.0 and is running on Windows XP.

BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service:

For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps.
For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps.
For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps.
For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps."

I've blanked out my phone and IP but thats a direct copy paste otherwise... so looks like i'm under the expected speeds...

I had severe slow down problems myself, open a ticket, they will ask you a lot of questions and tell you to connect to the BT checker 3 times (including once after midnight), if all is not well, then they will take it up with BT.

Naturally when BT called me, I was talking to an idiot who didnt know how I could connect to the connection he wanted (my ADSL router will not connect without a password, he didnt know the password) so I was stuck on the BT connection for days without internet access >.<

Btw, the password can be anything, its ignored.
