Question topic: Raise a Fault | ID: 19914580 Open
Your original question 8:09am, Wednesday 26th July 2006

[Support Wizard Journey]
[Self-test your Connection and Raise a Fault]

[Additional Information]
I was recently regraded to LLU and since then I have had problems with my connection. Since I was unable to get speeds above 2Mb I bought a new router. This was successfully able to connect me at speeds more acceptable (just over 7Mb)

The main problem is my router now loses synch and drops connection on a regular basis.

This is a big problem since it means that when I am playing online games I am constantly dropped making the gaming almost worthless.

Before the regrade I had absolutely no problems whatsoever. This suggests to me that I have problems BECAUSE of the regrade.

I know that the standard answer is to test the line (this has previously been done whilst being regraded) and to plug directly into the master socket and to try new filters (already tried new filters) and to try this that the other.

Having read the forums, I know that a lot of people have the same issue where they start to have problems AFTER they are regraded. This would indicate to me a bigger problem than suddenly everybodies equipment has failed or that suddenly everybodies line has failed.

Since I have only recently been regraded to LLU (Tuesday 18th I lost my connection, Sunday 23rd I got it back) could you please confirm whether or not these problems could be related to maximum speed tests on my line. Would I expect this problem to go away after a period of time?

Here are my line stats :

More recently, my router has been disconnecting and unable to re-establish the connection until I reboot it. Once rebooted I am able to connect again (unfortunately at this point the log seems to be purged!)
Your comment 12:31pm, Friday 28th July 2006

My connection has dropped again some time between 11:40 and 12:00 (I upload a file every 20 minutes to my website - no file uploaded, no connection).

Still waiting for a reply to this ticket after over 50 hours waiting!!!
Your comment 1:05pm, Friday 28th July 2006

I have called up DLink (my router) and asked them about why my router disconnects but doesn't disconnect.

They have told me that my Line Attenuation is too high and needs to be below 20 (currently 24).

What needs to be done to lower this?
Your comment 2:04pm, Friday 28th July 2006

Type - should be disconnects but doesn't reconnect.

Anyway, James Bailey tells me that this doesn't matter? Only support I have had so far against this ticket!!

Any help getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated. Kind of makes scheduling downloads a little useless if there is no connection and I can't re-establish it!!!

Router losing connection - Looking for help

I have the same problem which (like you) has just started to happen a few days after I was dumped onto Tiscali LLU.

My post is here...

Router losing connection - Looking for help

Also same problem for a whole month of LLU now. I sync at 4M but get dial-up/isdn type speeds and have pretty bad packet loss causing disconnections and loss of sync. sometimes it will reconnect itself after a while and other time I have to reboot the router to get things going again. I lose sync between 1 and 10 times a day and disconnections without losing sync much more frequently still. But didnt you notice adsl has green status and there are no servicewide problems (only tiscaliwide ones it seems).
