Question about usage limits which seem to have changed AGAIN

I have just been reading up on peak time usage for the Premier Option 1 which I am on , just in case PN have sneaked in any more limits that I wasnt aware of. (cynical I know, but its been known to happen!)

I seem to have read that if I go over 10gb at peak time in a month I will be managed to 128k

If a go over 10gb for a second time (any time after the first time) , I will be on 128k PERMANTLY? until I upgrade the product?

HERE :
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/network/sustainable_usage_guide.shtml

It implies that you get up to 24gb of peak time usage on Premier option 1.

Residential Broadband - sustainable peak-time usage

Product Warning email sent Restrictions applied
Premier
Option 1 24GB 30GB

Misleading?

Question about usage limits which seem to have changed AGAIN

Hi there,

You're looking at the sustainable usage policy.

Try this one:

Question about usage limits which seem to have changed AGAIN

Look at this page for the new allowances.

Essentially you get 20GB peak time, but start to get throttled at 13GB.
They claim there are no restrictions at all on what you do outside peak time for Premier.

The higher figure you refer to is the SUP or the FUP or some such policy. Ignore it.
What matters is that you will start to get throttled at 13GB from 1st August.

And misleading isn't the word.

I wouldn't complain to much I just left plusnet to toucan 1MB unlimited service and have already received my first fair usage policy email

We've noticed your recent levels of Internet usage have been very high during peak hour periods.

We monitor peak hour high usage on a weekly basis. Over the last week, your downloads and uploads have totalled 1.56 GB, which exceeds our peak hour usage thresholds:

* ToucanSurf 512Kb and 1Mb: 0.75 GB
* ToucanSurf 2Mb: 1GB

Peak hours are 6pm-11pm, Monday-Sunday (including Christmas and Bank Holidays).

We have therefore arranged for you to share bandwidth with other high users for the next seven days. Over this period, your access speed during peak periods will be determined both by your own usage level and by the usage of users with whom you are sharing bandwidth. At the end of this period we will review the situation and, if your peak hour usage is no longer exceeds the threshold, we will restore your service to its previous status.

0.75GB per week it almost makes me want to come back to plus. Shockedops:

Although it reads like increases, I haven't received an email about new allowances from 1st August, which I normally do. :?

Was this change announced via the usual channels?

David.

I don't think you can rely on finding out about things other than by looking on the forums regularly.
That's how I found out about it.
They may promise various forms of communication, but, as Shakespeare said, ............promises, promises!! (or was it my grandma said it?)

13GB Throttled where did this come from.........?
so what your saying is only extra 3 gb and not 5gb before being throttled.... so plus aint giving much then......

Their reasoning is that they've put the allowance up by a third from 15 to 20, so they're putting the throttling point up by a third from 10 to 13.
Except of course that it's not quite a third.
So instead of throttling starting at 66.6% of the limit, it will now start at 65%

And "much" is relative anyway.
Some poor soul posted on here yesterday that he'd switched to an unlimited service with toucan and now had a total weekly peaktime allowance of 0.5GB
It could be worse.

Hi Guys,

We started sending out some emails last night, but owing to the amount of time it takes to send emails, these will be completed over the course of the day.

Question about usage limits which seem to have changed AGAIN

Thanks for the link to the new download limits.

I am already just over my 22.5GB (23.24GB) limit this month with my billing date being the 9th. It will be interesting to see if we do receive the extra allowances on the 1st as stated.

Can we assume, also, that all the restriction limits are to be increased by 1/3, too?

i.e. With Option 2 Level 1 Increased from 15GB to 20GB
Level 2 18.75GB to 25GB

If this is the case and I do not use any more peak-time bandwidth between now and 1st August I should see my Level 3 Management reduced to level 1. Could someone at PN confirm what will happen, please?

Cheers

Your management level will be reduced in line with the new management levels for your product.
