Poor connection speeds today

What's the problems with the speeds today? To say they are sh** is an understatement. I just ran a speed test on my 2mb connection and here's the results

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=f571bd06108ab8964c874673392

Other people on ADSL guide are also complaining. Don't say check this and that because nothing has changed and my connection has been fine for a long time. It's definitley a Plusnet problem.

Looks like PN is having some serious problems here. There has been so many complaints today here and on ADSLguide about some redicules speeds or no speeds at all as my FTP is stuck on 0.0KB/s!!!
All PN can do is give you more links to some other speed tests.

Slow

It is the first time I have ever checked my broadband speed - I upgraded to Premier 2mb account but the connection has been slow making playing games or p2p very difficult.

My results were worse - and it states that my downstream speed is 'very low'

Are these slow speeds unique to PN or are all ISPs the same?

There appears to be problems with the ADSLguide speed tester. Have a look at this thread

The results on this aren't accurate

http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/speedtest50.html

The speed is definitley tits up as I noticed that usenet speed was down to about 60kbps earlier eventhough I have only used 2GB of my monthly on peak allowance. That's what prompted me to run a speed test. Well that's my BF2 evening gone Evil

Now im getting http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/speedtest50.html

So the speed is definitley bad.

For people seeing slow speeds on everything, especially people who've been seeing them for a few days, I would suggest running the BT Speed Checker and then reporting any slow speeds via link:contact us

Poor connection speeds today

Hi!

I don't normally have a problem with speeds but yes today has been odd.

I went to download a game from download.com just before 3pm today and couldn't understand why the speed was at about 97 KB/s

I then tried to download Irfanview plugins file (as it is a nice 4.9MB) from tucows.com. I selected the blueyonder site for download and it came down at a lovely 230KB/s. So then I tried using a few servers from the tucows list. I have listed them below. But it seems to show European downloads close to max speed. So I tried some sites in the US/Canada. Speeds seemed to be about 95-120KB/s. For a laff I tried a couple in Australia. Average speed 50KB/s. Now I know that it is not an accurate test but it gives a good indication that something is amiss somewhere. I tried a plusnet speedtest and got above 1900 kilobits/s. I tried the good old BT speedtest and also got over 1900 so no contention there.

Normally I get great speeds from US servers but the last couple of days it hardly gets above 1MB/s speeds.

I'm on a 2MB line with monthly usage at about 4-6GB (so nowhere near any limits!)

Anyway I may raise a ticket tomorrow after I try the same tests early in the morning!

Cheers,

Lee

Poor connection speeds today

I did the BT test and got the following speed - 1646 kilo bits per second (Kbps),

I'm not actually sure if this is what it should be?

I seem to always have slow speeds using P2P - both downloading and gaming with speeds of no higher than about 10kb and usually about 1-5
