Plusnet junk mail and email problems

I have noticed that the last three junk newsletters I get from Plusnet have coincided with their regular email problems!

Is it possible that when they send out their spam newsletter - it causes them mail server problems?

Erm, unlikely, but not impossible.

AFAIK the newsletters are distributed over the course of a number of days (or weeks?), to reduce any potential impact.

Additionally the newsletter is sent on a "one per customer"* basis, whereas most of us receive far in excess of that on a daily basis (albeit viagra ads or hot share tips for many of us)

Its worth them having a look to check for any correlation, but I'd think it unlikely.

*not sure if some folks get it to their default mailbox as well as an additional address ['s?] but even so, Its a drop in the ocean compared with the normal volumes of traffic

I always get two copies too...

It was a little tongue in cheek, but I do know for a fact that the last three newsletters have been sent during or a day after their massive email cock-ups!

Two copies here too.

And if your only communication with PN was the newsletters, the breathlessly excited tone might lead you to believe this was not an ISP in meltdown.

No, you're not missing anything. Although it is slightly less breathlessly excited than usual. I suppose under current circumstances relentless enthusiasm is hard to preserve.

*James wonders if it promises a bright new future for PN*

The last ones have told us of such fabulous improvements to the service, I'm amazed any of us can find anything to grumble about - things must be great for us now already.

Does anybody remember the Bad old Days before all these improvements to our service?

*James goes to hide now*

At the end of the newsletter is a link to feed back comments. Apart from asking for your vISP and username there is one question:

I gave a one word answer (it began with "m"). I bet the feedback they get is as good as they expect!
