Plusnet...isnt it time you fixed your mess!!!

OK with the amount of people having connection, throughput, webpage issues isnt it time Plusnet got round to sorting it out for good!!

its not bad enough that were being managed (or not managed specifically - depending on who you talk to at the towers) but to have this issue on tops is pisspoor in my opinion!!!

Sort it please!!!!

It's the weekend. They've got better things to do than attend to problem that's been on going now for two days straight...

1. The connection issue is now being looked at judging by Dave's earlier post.
2. The website connection issue was due to problems with Plusnet's transit partner and a more widespread DNS issue and outside of Plusnet's control.
3. Throughput at the moment seems to be very bad but judging by how many exchanges seem to have gone to amber or red for virtual paths it's probably a combination of poor capacity issues within BT's own network compounded by issues within PN...

The disconnect issue I agree though should have had alot higher priority and if needed someone should have been called in (I used to work for an ISP - part of our job was to be able to come in if needed - we worked out a rota so each weekend two of us would be sober enough to work Wink )

Why do PlusNet Staff always blame BT for problems that more than likly lie on the PlusNet Platforms :?: :?

Well not being unkind - take a look at the exchange checker for various exchanges and see how many are red / amber - those issues are way out side of ANY ISP's ability to correct (okay maybe BTo could lean on BTw) and is purely the responsibility of BT. The BT Centrals are also managed by BT on behalf of the ISP and it is BT who decide what the session limits etc on those centrals are.

The ISP is only able to deal effectively and without recourse to BT for issues which occur on the interior of their own network (IE from the inbound gateway to the gateways connecting them to their peering partners).

It is not just PN who have issues with BT Wholesale most ISP's who aren't a LLU provider will have the same issues.

Unfortunately this doesn't explain why it took Plusnet over 24 hours to re-route traffic away from the AboveNet transit. Although the problems Abovenet were having were out of Plusnet's control, they're were steps which could and should have been taken internal to PlusNet to help resolve the situation.
As for the disconnects, from what Stewart Norris said, the problems were inside PlusNet's network. The buck was just passed to BT until the problem was looked into properly.
