PlusNet Spam email

Received an email from Plusnet promoting the new landline telephone system but not sure if this is spammed produced. Refer to the highlighted text. The email was not addressed to the normal postmaster mailbox but to a nonexistent mailbox. Also just noticed that it was sent to my domain. Are PN mail servers being attacked again or is this a genuine email from PN? If's it the latter I will not be happy and want to know where the tick box is to stop promotional emails being sent from PN to my domain.

PlusNet Spam email

Yeah, that's come from us, though as you say it doesn't appear to be directed at your pchambers account, but instead has gone to an account with the username itsyou. Its most likely that for some reason that account has had its preferred contact address set as smith@paulchambers.me.uk which is why you received a copy of the email.

If you know anyone who's surname is Smith and who you might have let use your domain to receive email from ourselves, then I'd suggest you talk to them about sorting this out.

Sorry that is not the case. The only email that is registered with PN is postmaster@pchambers.plus.com. Is it advisable to raise this as a ticket as I believe the problem is at PN end.

Yesterday I did receive the same email but this was addressed to postmaster@pchambers.plus.com

It's possible that the email is registered on another account, as I mentioned. Either with or without your knowledge of it. By all means raise a ticket so that someone in the support center can advise you. Though due to the DPA there isn't much else that they'd be able to tell you.

I suppose the thing to do is mail the account that your address seems to be registered with - postmaster@itsyou.plus.com - and ask them to remove your address from their account.

Cheers James I was about to ask Jon about the other email address as it's not normal with PN emails to have to recipients. Will do this first.

PS Have to raise a ticket as 'itsyou' does not seem to be an account.

Still getting promotional emails addressed to a nonexistent alias of my domain. I can't see how user itsyou.plus.com guessed my email address. If a member of the comms team has a spare minute to.

1. See if itsyou.plus.com is an active account.
2. See if this account as the smith mailbox associated against it.

I'm puzzled as I can only find a tick box not receive this type of email, I have not found a place that you can enter alternative/additional email addresses. I need the mechanism how this was done so that I can explain it to itsyou.plus.com.

I would presume it would be the email address in the "Edit Details" of the Account Details.

It can't be as I would also receive all his/her billing and account management emails, which I don't.
