Password protected folders in web sites

Hello
Has anyone successfully configured a password protected folder on their PlusNet web space, using the .htaccess and .htpasswd files described in the FAQ? I have followed the instructions and checked it carefully, but cannot make it work. Despite the fact that it's in the FAQ, PlusNet say they do not offer support for this. Any tips would be very welcome from anyone who has been successful with this.
Best regards
Nick

RE: Password protected folders in web sites

The information in the FAQ does provide you with all the information on how to create this. However as you say we can not offer any direct support on doing this.

Thanks

Hello Nick

On Feb 12th I tried the procedure as described and it worked OK - I'm trying to remember if there was anything tricky but, in the meantime, these are what my files look like:

.htaccess
AuthUserFile /share/isp/plusnet/www/ma/maddrell/htdocs/Elim-IT/Quark/.htpasswd
AuthName "Please Log On"
AuthType Basic
require valid-user

.htpasswd
tim:uqoDoxNd.H6gA
becky:uqoDoxNd.H6gA
lyn:uqoDoxNd.H6gA

It's only a test with nothing useful or secret there so you could try it as
tim with password edwards but it's pretty boring!
