PUG interviews Plusnet

Following our last video interview we have now interviewed several more people.... asking questions about 2006, the BT takeover and the future of PlusNet.

Head over to http://usergroup.plus.net to view the videos.

Hope you enjoy them (and apologies for the building noise - PlusNet Towers is still in the middle of a construction site at the moment )

I watched some of these and found them quite interesting, it was also quite 'nice' to see the real faces of PN. At the same time, i can't help but feel there are two sides to PN:

1. The Old Side -- which is transparent, and open and determined to help the customer etc. (which these videos show)

and

2. The New Side -- which involves packet shaping etc. and no transparency on the specific ports, protocols etc. and how they are affected; and the authoritarian tendency to decide for the user the speed of things; i.e fast http but v slow irc.

the 2 sides to plusnet yup i agree with that, it funny i just sent an email to them,... why can't i seem to send an email to anyone it's seems they have thought all the questions though and if mine's not one of them well maybe i shouldn't be asking it anyways. Cry

the email anyways was to do with ssh traffic or traffic that is encripted, it seems to me that the shaping they do from lets say earley afternoon to about 2-3am seems to catch all sorts of traffic not just p2p and other protocals but all traffic that's not coming at you from port 80 (http)

I await Pnets comments.
not watched the vid yet but just wanted to say that i agree with everything in the above paragraph and i hope BT have brought plusnet. there not packet shaping BT users like plusnet.

Remember, PN do not provide support via email, to contact them you must either call them, or raise a ticket via http://help.plus.net - waiting for a response to an email may well be folly!
