P2P Really Slow

Hi there,

I recently upgraded to ADSLMax and only had my PlusNet profile updated from 2000kb to circa 7100kb yesterday.

I just ran a BT Speedtest and got the following result:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5058 kbps

So why would it be that a Torrent I am downloading off-peak is running at an average of 19kB/sec?

Please advise.

Cheers,
Steven.

P2P Really Slow

Could be numerous reasons, what account youre on, number seeds/leeches, contention .Speed tests are http I believe which is a high priority traffic compared to p2p which unless youre on payg is always low.

Offpeak now thats a point of contention, officially its midnight-4pm, but some count all weekend as peak, plus PN's network is full 16hrs a day most days.

P2P Really Slow

I'm on Broadband Premier 1.

I have not been anywhere near my monthly limit.

Currently going thru Gateway ptn-ag2.

Downloaded 1.4gig, uploaded 2.24gig.

At this moment (just closed and reopened torrent) 9 seeds, 67 peers (are these leeches?) and running a whopping 6kb/sec.

Its traffic management, its peak time and they slow everything P2P right down

p2p

i have been with plusnet for 2 years i have had no problems but since xmas p2p speeds have been shite 2ksec if lucky even after midnight if this is what is is going to be like in the future i cant wait to bog off and go with cable or zen . p2p needs sorting out, i can understand bandwidth throttling during peak times but after midight just takes the piss .

P2P Really Slow

I think even after midnight when they let go of the reigns, because everyone is doing it, the bandwidth isn't there to cope

P2P Really Slow

Plusnet throtle your P2P and you are powerless to do anything about it!!

No point in jumping ship as this will no doubt be introduced by other ISP's as the software comes from BT WS (The BB supplier.)

Answer: Dont use P2P!!
