Open Padlock on https:// pages (VMBU, Account details etc)

I was slightly alarmed to see open padlock icons on https:// pages such as
https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.html
Mousing over the icon gives the tooltip
Signed by Comodo Limited.

The Security tab on the Page Info panel states that Comodo Limited are the Certificate Issuer.

Hopefully, someone at PlusNet can comfirm that the portal is using this certificate.

I've only ever seen a closed padlock, or an absence of one, in Firefox (1.0.7).

FYI I'm on WinXP SP2 and the padlock are top and bottom right of the browser.

What about when you go to create a ticket, I get 'security alerts' popping up because it looks like +nets certificates are invalid or the name doesn't match?

Whats that about?

Hi,

I think that's our new security certificate. They were updated a week or two ago and were waiting on a reboot of the portal servers.

The certificates are set up for https://portal.plus.net, if you try and access https://www.plus.net then you'll get a name error, but that URL shouldn't be linked anywhere, make sure you don't have it bookmarked somewhere and it shouldn't show the warning.

http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35849

is the current website address I'm reading, if I then click on the 'help' button link at the top of the page the page loads and then if I click on 'contact us' the pop-ups appear as the page loads...?

All very interesting, but has anyone seen the open padlock icon in Firefox?

It's a different icon from the one used on other https sites.

The open padlock icons have, now, been replaced by the usual closed padlocks.

I wonder what that was? :?:
