Odd email bounce

I have a couple of registered domains on which I've applied standard email
forwarding to my PN account mail@xxx.plus.com.

Several emails are bouncing, and I'm getting the following error message:

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
mail@xxxx.plus.com
(ultimately generated from info@xxxx.co.uk)
SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<mail@xxxx.plus.com>:
host mx.core.plus.net [212.159.11.36]: 550-REJECTED:
The email address (mail@xxxx.plus.com) is not valid on this 550 system.

Any ideas what the cause might be? I've been using this approach for 2
years without any problems.

Cheers!

Odd email bounce

Hi there,

Looks like a mail database replication issue. I'm about to post a service status and a P1 has been raised.

It's not just you Wink

Odd email bounce

I opened a thread on this http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=52431 as I was having the problem but James seems to have sorted me out - my mail is flowing freely again.

Three cheers for James. Cheesy

Odd email bounce

I think I'm getting the same problem. I've just had a phone call from a client who said he'd tried to e-mail me, but it bounced back to him.

Odd email bounce

Shouldn't be gettng bounces anymore. The mail will be queuing up on our servers, and will be processed, probably within the hour.

If thats a database replication problem then you rteally do have a problem.

The plusnet mail server is giving out an error 5xx which is a hard reject. eg a bounce.

If it was an issue it should be giving back a 4xx code.

I have seen this before ofr a domain on plusnets email server some time ago. Tried to report the issue so somebody at the time over the phone and they said the problem was at my end.

The faster / easyier solutions was to move to a different domain at the time so we did.

Odd email bounce

As far as the mxcore servers were concerned there were no entries in the mail db. Mail bounced with a 5xx error because for all intents and purposes customers' mailboxes didn't exist.
