Newbie advice please

Hi all, just signed up to +net premier coming from Wanadoo.
After reading through some of these posts I'm wondering if I have made a wise move. There appears to be a lot of discontent. Can anyone tell me if there is a cooling off period in which to cancel my subscription?
Mind you don't know where else I can get unlimited for same price.
Also wondering if I should have gone with the £14.99 sub?, is download effected much in peak times? I'm not a heavy user but don't like restrictions.
Any feedback would be most welcome ... Thanks

The Plusnet Guarantee gives you 45 days to cancel/migrate elsewhere and get out of any annual contract.

As for the number of discontent users you have to consider the fact that they are just a small percentage of the total 110,000 ADSL customers that PlusNet have and you often find people will visit forums such as this when they have a problem, not when they are happy.

That's not to say PN have been good at communication recently because they have not been, but I find the actual connection rock-solid and none of the changes recently will affect me in any way, and there are a lot of others in the same situation. Happy with the connection but not happy with how PN have been handling recent changes.

It really depends on what you want out of this ISP and you have 45 days to decide which camp you are in.

Migration away is free, but you will have to pay any deferred fees (for example the "free" (deferred) activation.

If you cancel in the first 45 days however, you will not need 30 days notice and you can cancel any yearly contract.

If you're looking, f2s is a popular move, unlimited at £24.99/mo - a bit more, but for me, worth it Smiley

Hope this helps Smiley

not as rock solid as mine, no throttling :-)

How does it affect you?

try not to listen to rubbish if your not a heavy user then nothing will affect the way you use you account and coming from an isp such as wannapoo should encourage you to stay with an honest up front isp that tells their customers what they are doing for them to maintain a good service for the future not just a fly by night service !!!

enjoy your account and don't listen to the sad moaners who can't see the wood for the tree's!!!

Worryingly f2s AG forums starting to see a number of complaints about speed and pings.

As f2s seem to be the trendy place to go I am wondering if they have the infrastructure to take all the users that are flocking their way?

Also what puts me off f2s more than anything, when I looked earlier this year, is their tech support is only available 9.30-5.30 mon, wed, fri and 9.30-8 tue, thur. Not the most proffesional (hesitate to use the term mickey mouse) way to set up tech supprt, ur a bit stuffed if ur connection dies friday evening!

Pretty much the same as PlusNet's tech support. They Cs will answer your phonecall and take your money, but if it's a tech problem, they only work Monday-Friday 9-5, so you're screwed if your connection dies Friday evening too.

It depends what you mean by 'heavy'. You could be breaking restrictions right now and not even know about it.

It won't help to ask PlusNet either, as the restrictions might not be public yet.

All in all, I rate Wanadoo higher than PlusNet.

Truth is, if you are migrating, you would be mad to go to F2S; it seems to me that they are likely to hit the same problems in future as PN have hit now. What's more, because they are LLU you can't even migrate away easily to a BT reseller (or, at least, you'll have to pay the £60+ activation fee....)

In terms of the solidness of the connection alone (and disregarding issues such as customer communications, product descriptions, etc), at the end of the day there is a tradeoff between price and network quality. PN are striving for good quality at an excellent price. However, I think it is broadly accepted that you can get better network quality at a higher price from some other ISPs. At the end of the day you have to decide whether that is a price hike you are prepared to pay in order to get better quality.

For me, like many others, I find that at PN the quality of the connection is generally good and the pricing is keen.

Our Customer Support Centre is open 24/7, as discussed in many other threads here they are able to do just about everything that needs to be done and can fix almost every issue people contact them about.

Unfortunately there are some issues that can only be dealt with by specialised staff in normal office hours, however these issues are few and far between.

Also, if an issue is not a single user issue and is causing problems for a number of customers then our engineers are available on call, so if the GCI platform goes down at 2 am on a sunday morning for example, an engineer will be working on it within the hour.

I have had no problems contacting them out of hours, I have even been in contact with them at 6am on a Friday morning and the problem was resolved there and then. So i have no idea where your mon-fri 9-5 comes fromHuh?

It comes from many users on here reporting unanswered tickets and CS staff unable to actually do anything over the weekend, the repsonse to which was for PlusNet staff on the forums to tell us the people who could actually sort these problems only work 9-5.

There are only a few things that the CSC can't do at present. One of these things is the removal of the SUP profiles, which account for most of the complaints we have seen in the last few days that fall into this category.
