My 8mb sync router, now says 6mb sync...????

Has anyone actually gottoen 8mb connection??

Why advertise 8mb broadband, when in reality - you dont get more than 6mb, is that not misleadingHuh Surely the product does not match its description??

Would love to know if anyone is actually getting near to 8mbHuh

you'll find that the product is advertised as "up to 8meg".

Your speed is determined by your distance from the exchange and the quality of your line.

The only people who will get 8mb are the people who live very very close to their exchange.

If I remember correctly, I think I read somewhere that only 4-5% of people will actually get 8mb, but I may be wrong.

My 8mb sync router, now says 6mb sync...????

Well I am getting an absolutely solid 8M sync:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream

Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 20 db 6.5 db
Noise Margin 9 db 24 db

However my maximum stable rate is 6000. Speed tests are coming out in the 5000's.

If you have only just gone maxdsl then you need to wait for your line speed to stabalise, which can take up to 10 days.

if your out of your first 10 days of the upgrade, have you checked your exchange to make sure there are not any issues.

You could even try a BT speed test, howevever you'll have to search the forum for a link as I dont have it. The BT speed test will let you know whether the speed it limited by BT or plusnet.

Had it for a couple of weeks now, started off at 8mb sync.. now down to 6mb... I live about 200m from the exchange so would have assumed I may have been one of the lucky ones!!!

Im still more than happy with my 5-6mb.. but you always want more:-)

a BT speed test is the way to go.

You change your connection settings to connect to BT's network directly and download a file. If it downloads at the same speed as when your connected to plusnet, then it's a BT issue, however, if it downloads a full whack, then it's a plusnet issue.
