Mozilla Thunderbird - SMTP Error: Relay Not Permitted

Hi

I'm having trouble using the SMTP server relay.plus.net with Thunderbird. The username/password checkbox is unchecked etc.

The error is "relay not permitted". Can anyone tell me what this means?

Thanks.

It means that you are not connected via a PlusNet connection when you are tryiong to send email.

You will find it's the same with almost all ISP. You have to be connected via their network to send emails through their mail server. Otherwise the spamers would have a field day.

You can read/download emails from any connection, you just need to be connected to PlusNet to send.

Just chainge your email account to use the SMTP server of the ISP whose network you are connected to.
