MaxDSL top downsteam speed

Now I always thought that the maximium downsteam speed for MaxDSL was 8128000. This has been my Actual Rate since I was maxed. However, my router has always shown the Maximum Rate as 11200000.

This is a figure I have never seen mentioned for MaxDSL - in fact it's not a figure I've seen mentioned anywhere.

Has anyone else seen this, or have any idea what it's about?

Are you sure you're not on a LLU exchange.

That's an ADSL2+ rate unless I'm very much mistaken.
(that or a bug in your router's firmware Smiley )

Nah, Wink

a) I'm on a rural Scottish exchange which isn't likely to see LLU this century

b) my router is not ADSL2 compatible

Upstream is also show a strange Max - 960000

It's quite strange really.

The maximum rate is what the router is guessing could be possible based on your current line stats and does not represent what you will get or what the local exchange is capable of running at.

That figure is pretty meaningless at the moment.

Hmmm, OK, but isn't it odd that the figures being reported are higher than either the maximium for the technology and the capabilities of the router?
