LLU vs MAX

OK, I've been on 2mb Plus.net for over 2 years now and I want it to go quicker now Smiley

I thought MAX was the fast one, but I've just read a post saying LLU has faster uploadHuh

I'm sorry, but I've not kept up to date with the technicalities of ADSL (I've just used it!).

Thanks in advance!

Max syncs your upload speed at 448k, LLU is faster.
However, LLU uses a download SNR of 12 rather than the 6 needed by Max, so download may be slower.

Also, LLU has given rise to many problems, according to the dispossessed on these forums, and the problems have gone on for weeks at a time without resolution.

I wouldn't advise you what to do, but I am happily enjoying a 5.5Mb/s download sync rate on Max and have opted out of LLU.

It is also significant that Plusnet have suspended all transfers to LLU for now, but htey may of course resume them without notice.

Thanks Geoff...

MAX sounds like the way to go then Smiley

If it wasn't for the problems on the LLU network (disconnections, unusable connections, outages, etc), the LLU network would be the one to go for. At the moment however, the MaxDSL is far better, stability wise.

Without being peevish, the problem with LLU is real and has been acknowledged by PN, I have along list of Service Status detailing just that.

I am on a long line from the exchange so before MAX only had 1Mb/s but BT was very reliable both before MAX and after. The plusnet speed test results below show the MAX speed up to 21 July when I was switched to LLU. Tiscali LLU is unreliable in my experience.

LLU vs MAX

I was Maxed in May and LLU'd in August. Actual (as opposed to sync) download speed on my LLU connection is generally about 2500-2800Kbps, which is maybe 1-200 Kbps lower than with Max. Upload is considerably faster at around 500Kbps as opposed to 350 on Max.

The downside, as widely reported on these forums is that LLU is way, way less stable than Max for me and many others. Max would disconnect about once a week or so, LLU two or three times daily even before the current troubles that have given me 10-20 disconnections a day.

I never said it wasn't. Perhaps your lack of service is making you a bit touchy?
All I said was that this was the case according to other people, who had no service, and that I couldn't confirm it through personal experience, since both the basic service and Max have been just fine for me.
But whenever I actually come out and say that, I get accused of the I'm All Right Jack thing, so I didn't do it.

Wrong, I am just being accurate.

Please indicate where you said these precise words in the post I quoted above.
The way I read that post makes me think that the problem with LLU random disconnections is referred as an alleged problem, when, as I have already stressed is a known problem.
