I thought caps were supposed to improve service?

Obviously not....

I hope this doesnt become a regular occurance PN, getting fed up of speeds being all over the place. What happened, you used to be spot on for speeds etc, now id class you as below average.

I know its not my gear, it was fine an hour ago. I am on level 2 management, but somehow i think this surpasses that management level.

I have noticed that speeds for myself have been hanging around the 170 - 180Kb/s mark.

This is about 1.5mb, not a massive decrease but massive enough to make it obvious at my end. I am going to have to unplug other things again and test, but I am almost certain its not my equipment and congestion isnt a problem.

:: sigh ::

Just tested mine and it's way below indeed its below speeds for a 1mb, not normal for me.

Must be more problems at plusnets end as the test to plusnet from me is fine it's only the test to the outside world that shows the problem.

No problems here with the AG reported speeds:

Have you tried a BT speedtest to rule out your exchange?

I havent tried a BT speed test as yet as I have had no time to.
Pages are timing out on the portal as well as normal web pages though.
That to me sounds a little more than a simple contention or even congestion issue. I know I am getting speeds above the guideline figure but something has gotta give.

I will do further tests later on when I get a few moments.

3rd adslguide test, 2mb connection. again the main dip appears to happen after the connection to plusnet. I would rasie a ticket butthis might take to tomorrow to filter through. Hopefully someone from plusnet is reading the forums and can do some checks.

The system is not currently working, it's as simple as that. A lot of us know this. I'm sure PlusNet are working hard on learning how to use their expensive toys and make the traffic management work, but that doesn't change the fact that there are currently problems. The oft-quoted 'average' user cannot currently use their connection in the same way they could a few months ago, be this down to overcrowding of pipes or broken traffic management.
Yes, I'm only getting about half the speed I should on speed-tests, and that's been the case for a long time during peak-time, along with the massive increases in packetloss and ping spikes. Basically the 'average' user is unable to use either latency sensitive or bandwidth intensive applications during peak time in the way they used to.

Seems to be working well here. I'm currently downloading headers on several binary usenet groups from Plusnet and Astraweb (4 connections on each) and it's nearly maxing out my 2MB connection - average speed 215kB/s.

Does management last 24/7 now and not just peak times or something? I cant get faster than 16KBs at all. Its now 1:30am and its still running like a sack of spuds.

Ran 3 speed tests now and all returned the same, and my browsers running as if im on dial up, infact its running so slow websites are not displaying properly and i have to refresh them 3 or 4 times to display properly.

Im not amused, especially considering i need the net for research for college work and this is making it take a lot longer than it should.
