I'm off....sorry it came to this!

I have recommended plus.net to loads of people after being a customer for a few years, and receiving superb service for most of it.

Over the last few day, the service has declined massively with loads of random disconnects.

This is not the first time this has happened. Last time i went back and forth repeating tests I had already done, got nowhere, and went on holiday. It resolved itself whilst I was away, so not anything to do with my equipment, but I was without BB for days. Whatever I did, I was threatened with being charged a large amount for BT carrying out tests if it was found to be my equipment at fault. Whatever I did, PN would not say they were happy.

I have had lots of disconnections over the last few months, maybe one or two a day, but this has now become dreadful.....just like last time. Certain websites won't connect, MSN wont log in, usenet/email times out etc etc.

I raised a ticket, with several questions. I asked specific questions, but they were ignored completely. I just got a standard email with the 16? questions about what I had done to test my equipment, some of which I had already answered in my original post.

Well, having gone througfh this before and being so brainwashed by PN that it must be something at fault at my end (and spending £70 on a new unneeded router), I have decided enough is enough.

Any rugby fans here? I remember with great fondness watching Johnny Wilkinson kicking that winning goal in Australia. Imagine being really happy with that after a couple of years, then somebody turning round and saying it missed? Oh then saying it was valid.....then changing their minds again?

How many times are PN going to move the goalposts?

Oh, and the misleading emails re being upgraded from April. I know many people including me took this as being upgraded in April. I know this may be out of PNs hands, but my exchange was scheduled for April and still hasn't been done......the customer contact should have been far more clearer on this.

When I contacted PN re my problems, I got a comment saying that speed is only a small part of the BB service, and a speed upgrade may cause problems.

Well, that leaves me in a win win situation. I can get my current speed without caps and all the recent rubbish for £9.99 or a 8mb service for £29.99 which is what I am paying now.

Can anybody give me a reason to stay?

good on ya mate. As a rugby fan(and a welshman) i wish you luck on your journey. I've been with Plusnet for..oooh. 2 weeks and not had a download speed faster than 13kbps. (2MB prem)

had a couple of tickets so far, giving me spiel, not what i call customer service. I work for the gov't and need to email reports and documents to my staff but attaching an 8mb file the other day timed out.

oh, and a 70MB file on bittorrent had an estimated time of.....275days!!!!

To all those wanting to hammer your connections...lucky lucky Link:censored

What was your previous download speed ?
Have you added new sofware ?
Could it be that you need to adjust settings on your PC ? ..........

Don't kill me for saying this but that looks an awful lot like the results of brutal congestion happening at your BT exchange.

What does http://www.metronet.co.uk/adsl/exchangeChecker say about your exchange's health?

Possibly the same as mine, the glorious Dundee Steeple exchange:

Thanks to the inadequacy of British Telecon, I now feel privelaged if I hit 120KB/s on my struggling 2MB connection.

my exchange checker is fine apart from a couple of days, i've checked so many things now that i'm almost an expert myself, NAT/firewall, port forwarding, reverse DNS options the lot!

Even on bittorrent downloading a legal file i only get 8kbps. Normally it is 0-1kbps...

Even google's home page has second thoughts about loading!

The table shown above is from whence i joined.

I've never seen such an angry forum before, especially on the ISP's website, well maybe wanadoo, and tiscali, but seriously there is something very wrong with plusnet. F2s and Zen are looking very attractive right now. My missus is needing to do some serious work as she is a doctor and i need the bandwidth. I'm not looking for 100GB a month, just a decent speed when i want it.

Is that too much to ask from their "premium service"?

What firewall/security suite are you running ? I did have connection/Browser issues until i started using a different antivirus and firewall.
