How come..

Limitation of the server, or routers en route to that server?

Load balancing or QOS applied along the way somewhere.

Many many things could be the cause.

This happens on quite a lot of servers btw and I have never yet to get my full download speed even at offpeak times. It starts off around 200KB/s then just drops to 30KB/s.

And If it's the server with the limitiations, wouldnt all 3 files amount to 35KB/s not all get 35KB/s.

What product are you on?

Try some downloads from http://ftp.heanet.ie.

I find that to be a very reliable source.

How come..

Are you on Broadband Premier?

I get about 230k/s..... this is usual. Could be exchange contention?

not really. you can find out "IF" bt has reported it by looking at the exchange checker at usertools.plus.net

Dont take tis word cause tis often not up 2 date and bt are generally slow at pickin up on these things
