And its come back with this result
http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:250f937?service=dsl&speed=7616&os=winXP&via=pppoA

I used to get speeds of up to 6500 to 7000 kbps

Help With Tweaking Speeds

Hi,

That's a pretty low RWIN value, my suggestion is to change the RWIN (TCP Receive Window) using DrTCP (which you can download from DSLReports) to 116800. Save the changes and close DrTCP and then reboot the PC and see if it makes a difference.

Help With Tweaking Speeds

I tried that Dave ,this is what I got on BBMax @19.15Hrs
Last Result:
Download Speed: 3514 kbps (439.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 381 kbps (47.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Ive set it at 116800 now,as you said.
On that report there saying to between 71540 and 191260
Should I try any other settings ,or would'nt it make any difference.
My speeds used to be good until we had them speed issues in February

Help With Tweaking Speeds

Dave

Shouldnt the MTU be a little lower than that as well Dave. I thought on PPPoA it should be 1458, but I could be wrong.

Fravel, if you read some of the Tweak tips, it explains how to get your exact RWIN value, but TBH, if its set to over 100000 and you are still getting lower speeds, I doubt its that. Has your line syncsed lower by any chance lately, and now synced back up. Running a BT speed test, to see what your IP profile is would be useful.

Can you run the BT Speedtester?

http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/troubleshooting/bt_speed_tester.shtml

See what result that gives, also try the speedtest off peak to see if it's higher than.

Depends, some people find that a different MTU will give a different performance others don't. Back in the day 1500 didn't give the best performance because of the MTU BT had set on their network, but they fixed that a few years back now so MTU is generally less important that the RWIN setting.

Help With Tweaking Speeds

BT Result
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5607 kbps

Ive always found this BT test gives a higher speed result than anyone else,is it correct?

I used to get 6000kbps + all the time with BB Max Test
