Help! Modem/router

I am changing from a usb modem(binatone 500) to a network conected smc 7904WBRA modem/router. This will not connect to plusnet, do you have a installation program for Lan modems, and does it require a Mac clonning tool? What changes to "connections" do I have to make in explorer to enable a a Lan modem?
Thanks, Carol

Help! Modem/router

If it's a combined ADSL modem router, then plugging it into your network card should be all you need to do with regards to getting your PC and router 'talking'. If your using Windows XP it should be coming up "Local Area Connection is now connected and everything should be assigned to you by the router.

Then it's a case of getting the router to talk to Plusnet and this is generally via an web interface accessible using the routers' IP. (Normally http://192.168.0.1 http://10.0.0.1 / http://10.0.0.2 or similar).

To find out the IP of the router, go to Network Connections, double click on Local Area Connection and it should come up with the status box. Click on the Support tab, and the IP in the "Default Gateway" part is the router IP.

Hope this might somehow help you a little. I'm not familiar with your particular router.
