Has cron died on ccgi again?

Hi

My cronjob has not run on ccgi since Tuesday 3rd July. I suspect that cron has died again on the cgi server.

(see: http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56800&highlight=cron )

Is any one else having problems with cron again?

Has cron died on ccgi again?

Other users have report permission problems changing their crontab's today.

But as for crontab running, mine appears fine.
Check out this link;

It should update every minute.

Has cron died on ccgi again?

Ok, thanks for that.

You reminded me that last time cron went wrong I created a cronjob to run every minute to test it. I've uncommented that test in the crontab and it is working OK after all.

I hope my main cronjob runs as normal tomorrow, because I'm not sure I understand why it would suddenly stop working otherwise.

Cheers

Has cron died on ccgi again?

... so my cronjob didn't run again today (Friday 6/7). When I went to edit my cronjob I find out that my crontab is empty!!

Has anyone else seen this? What a pain.

Has cron died on ccgi again?

Same here;
chillypenguin@cshell01:~$ crontab -l

no crontab for chillypenguin
chillypenguin@cshell01:~$

Reloaded my cron tab and "crontab -l" shows the entries but my lastcron.txt is not updating so crontab is not running.

Has cron died on ccgi again?

I have now raise PUGIT item 33 as this is the second time recently that it has stopped and there is clearly no monitoring in place to detect it.

Has cron died on ccgi again?

Hi Peter

Must be our mistake there is no issue with the CGI servers;

Or at least according to the service status page.

Chilly

Same to Chilly I found that cron stopped at: Friday, Jul. 6 - last update at 1702 (5:02 pm) BST .

However, before that for two days was already erratically cronjobs done.

I had set up this: http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56563&highlight=load and it tells that the server which serves cron is hopelessly overworked (at least that is what I uderstand from the red bars, all above 5 - whatever that means - ). On the 3rd July it was creaping up the day over to 30.38. Then there is no recording for the 4rd of July, so it was not working on that day. On the 5th July it runs on a top plateau of 33.32 until ca. 11.12am, then it collapses to only sporadic responses for the further day, the time is only sometimes recorded and at at ca. 22:24 there is yellow small bars only. The next recording is only covering part of the 6th July, none for the 7th July, and for the 8th July when I only once started the script manually.

Is there anyone who could write a small script for PlusNet which scans cron. I am sure there is a lot of people who could do it and help out. :?:

And - I guess - the server which runs cron needs some jobs taken off it. :?:
