Guest Book Help

I know this is not the right place to ask, but this is where I seem to get best results. I want to set up my own guest book on my site and this looked very good and easy to set up:http://www.eddiecentral.net/resources/eddiesgb.php

could anybody please give me any further instuctions or tips, or even any good ideas for a guestbook or sites that you have found easy to set up and use. I have been trying for hours to setup the above to no avail, when I point my browser to gbinstall.php, i just get the script and nothing else. Any tips or advice would be most welcome.

RE: Guest Book Help

Hi,

Are you trying to install this on the CGI server or just within your normal webspace? PHP scripts can only be used on the CGI server.

Hi There,

Have you activated your CGI account yet? This should be available at http://cgi.username.plus.com - See http://portal.plus.net/supportpages.html?J2%2FJ%2FyM0zHE%3D as a starting point.

I'm sure if you have any specific questions, the guys in the CGI forum would be happy to help.

RE: Guest Book Help

i think this thing also uses mysql so you'll need to activate that as well and you'll need to configure the logon settings. i've not used it but had a quick look at the support forum.

i've only just started playing with the cgi server and heres some of the thinks i got wrong...

for php stuff to work you need to put the files into the cgi-bin dir.

you need to have the user access pages in the root and not cgi-bin as the security settings don't allow access to cgi-bin to end browsers.

i think you can change the settings on some of this by creating/modding .htaccess files, but i've not tried that yet.

Good look.
