Anyone heard of any problems tonight. My MSN just died and now plus net pages are the only ones i can access. Yahoo/Ebay etc are just not loading along with most other sites. Has that London Exchange thing crashed again or have the repo men been in at BT.

RE: General Probs

It's happening to me as well. Nowhere near London, though.

AS soon as I've posted that last one, it's all working again!

Hi,

It's all covered in the Service Status 'Connectivity' section. We have had an external connectivity outage for about 20 minutes due to a fault at our backbone providers end.

We're monitoring it closely.

Just to let you know that it is still not working for me. This site and email seem ok but everything else has died.
Still I'm off to bed, have fun.

Scary. Me and a few friends were having difficulty seeing anything (even this) until just now. Looks like some clumsy person went and deleted that icon called "the internet" off their desktop again Wink

Gus,
Last nights problems were caused by a network failure at Band-x, but we have not had any issues with them over the last 5 days.

We monitor all our routers bandwidth usage and it is fairly simple to see when a problem has occoured.

We havent noticed any drop in bandwidth other than lastnight, infact we have seen an increase in usage, but no where near maximum yet.

Whatever is going on it still seems to be a bit on/off. Last night every couple of hours no sites or servers could be accessed for the time it took to make another couple of cups of tea. Today it has happened once since ive been on where everything is unavailable, and then five minutes later pages sudddenly come alive again. Wierd.

Ah well,
Heds

RE: General Probs

theres a resonable Freeware trace util at http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/htrace.htm

Its not the fastest but is free and works, but for this problem enable Packetloss checking as well, but this will slow it down considerably.

Or Visualroute as a bought tracer at http://www.visualware.com/visualroute/index.html

HI -

Very bad problems here last night ca 11.45 - 12.30pm. I couldn't get a workable connection at all - via FRIACO, via the 0845, or via Claranet. I finally got a poor connection via an alternative BT number late on but even that was pretty poor.
Connection this morning (and tonight) seems to be OK again.

RE: General Probs

SORRY - I should have said 11.45pm - 12.30am.

Both numbers are 0114 Sheffield codes.

RE: General Probs

Hi there Mike,

I too had the very same problem last night, and around about the same time too. This was not a localised problem as I was seeing the same situation when using another ISP.

Many of the people I was talking to online were in the same boat and their locations varied greatly.

Still, as you say, everything seems ok now so it looks as though BT have sorted the situation.

Thanks for your comments.

Regards,
Mark.
